Trip 51
September 20, 2025
The first day of Munich’s Oktoberfest is like a race to the beer halls. The winners (or those with 10 seat minimum table reservations) get seats at unreserved tables; those who arrive late(r) do not get seats and may not even be able to get in the beer halls (some of which were at capacity by 1pm, and temporarily, no more were being admitted).
We were late arrivals , although knowing better and having been to Oktoberfest in 2023. As I said, some of the more popular beer halls were either temporarily closed to more entrants or just packed.

The crowd sings along (YouTube) with the band

Der Himmel ist blau (sky is blue) and it’s 29°C, warmer inside the beer halls (that’s why you need a beer 😉).
People dressed up!

All the big name breweries are here (only beer brewed in Munich is served at Oktoberfest). The setup work for the tents often begins three months before the start of the festival. These are just some of them.
The Augustiner brewery is the only Munich brewery that still delivers the beer in wooden barrels to the Oktoberfest. The tent has 6000 indoor and 2500 outdoor seats.
The Bräurosl tent seats 7050 people indoor and 1200 outdoors. Fischer-Vroni has 3080 indoor and 700 outdoor seats.
The Hacker tent offers indoor seating for 6,950 people, and another 2,350 outdoor seats.
The Hofbräu tent is, with a total of almost 10,000 seats, the largest beer tent at the Oktoberfest (6,018 seats and 1,000 standing places indoors, and an additional 3,022 seats outdoor).
Löwenbräu tent had 8,500 seats.
Ochsenbraterei has 5950 seats.
Schottenhamel has 6,000 seats and two galleries. 4,000 Seats are located outdoors
